SH 82 Feasibility Study

RJRA evaluated strategies to improve/restore the structural integrity to the severely deteriorated 46 year old, 2009 ft. long, 32 span causeway and swing bridge that crosses the lower end of the Sabine Lake in Port Arthur, Texas. The feasibility study determined, through qualitative evaluations, a viable alternative that could be implemented to provide for the projected transportation needs of the SH/LA 82 Corridor. Development of conceptual alternatives focused on maximizing the use of the existing corridor while minimizing impacts to surrounding communities and the environment. The study process included a public involvement effort to gather input and inform the community and agency stakeholder in regards to the feasibility study process.
