FM 3009 Route Study

RJRA served as the public involvement task leader for a route study evaluating viable design alternatives to upgrade the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane highway with raised median, appropriate median openings to accommodate left turns, and two railroad grade separations. The need for additional ROW at the proposed bridge structures and raised median was initially met with significant opposition from abutting property owners including several large-scale developers. However, through a proactive public involvement process, the study team was able to change public perceptions allowing stakeholders to reach consensus on a recommended alternative.
